Protecting Your Home with Subtle Energy

8/31/2012

Picture
You can use subtle energy (Qi/Life Force Energy) to help protect your home.  You can also direct subtle energy to help create an atmosphere of love, peace, and stability in your home.

To purge your home of negative energy, you will need some sage, mugwort, or some other dried herb or moxa.   To perform a blessing on your home, you can use salt water.  You will also need to put your mind into a space where you feel and/or can visualize your intentions.  This can be done with a meditation which can help you prepare to direct this energy.

When you are ready to begin, take the dried herb or moxa, light it, and start at the room you want to cleanse and purge from negative energy.  Take the sage or moxa and wave it around all the walls and corners of your home, either speaking or thinking how you are directing and moving this negative energy out of this room.  Visualize the negative energy, thoughts, or experiences, moving out of this room, disappearing, or being vaporized with your thoughts and actions.

Move to the next room and repeat. When the purging of this negative energy has been completed, you are now ready to begin bringing in new, nourishing energy forces within this space.

Take the salt water you have prepared and move into the first room you purged.  Give a blessing of love, peace, protection, bounty, or whatever positive ideas and thoughts you have for your home.  As you bless each room, dip your hand in the salt water and then gently scatter some of the water drops in room.  While the small droplets scatter, visualize the water drops as holding new, clean, vibrant energy, and with this energy, those thoughts and ideas you are scattering.  These droplets of salt water are like seeds of love you are bringing within each room.

You repeat the blessing of each room until you have completed restoring new energy within your home.

This purging and blessing process can be done both inside the house as well as outside the home.

For additional protection, end with a meditation and visualize a protective and invisible energy shield being placed around your home.  Visualize this energy shield protecting you and your family.

How frequently should you do this?  Repeat whenever you feel the energy change in your home or feel unsettled in your home. I usually do this with each seasonal change.

Using Different Treatment Protocols

8/27/2012

This month I have been using a new Qigong treatment protocol in called Da Bei Qigong medical treatments.  Some clients have loved it, and others have not.  Da Bei Qigong follows a specific treatment protocol depending on what the assessment results are.   As a result, the treatments have been more about following the steps and protocol rather than sensing what is happening with the patient.

Recently I have been using the Da Bei Qigong protocol and mixing it slightly with some of the other treatment protocols so it could provide both the acupoint focus as well as some "sensing and directing" focus.  The reviews off this combination have also been mixed, too.  Some have thought it was the best treatment ever and others have not liked the more "hands on" approach.  Some have been able to feel the energy flowing within them, and others felt nothing.

Help to Control Your Cough

8/13/2012

I think we have all been in a situation where you start to cough, and then you keep coughing and it just doesn't seem to quit.  Cough, cough, cough!    It also seems like this happens at the most inconvenient times, like being in a meeting, or a public venue, or a place where you are supposed to be quiet.  What seems to make it worse is when you even try harder to suppress the coughing and it gets worse.

This recently happened to me when I was in the audience of a theater and started to cough, and then cough some more, and then I couldn't get my coughing to stop.  I was searching for cough drops as well as see how to climb over 10 people to get to the aisle and invisibly crawl out with no one noticing.  I then thought, HEY!  There is an acupuncture point for coughing!!  So I started to massage that point and almost immediately my coughing became suppressed. It was pretty cool!

The acupuncture point to help with coughing is known as Lung 5, or LU5.  It is located in the elbow crease of either arm.  It is in the depression area of the elbow crease and slightly lateral to the biceps tendon. It can be tender if you have a cold.  This acupuncture point is one of the points used to help with coughing, sore throat, and even asthma.

I was rather amazed how quickly my coughing stopped while I massaged that point in one of my arms.  It almost seemed like magic it was so quickly effective.

The Old Chinese Master

8/9/2012

I met an old Chinese Master years ago when I first started to receive acupuncture treatments.   I could sense his presence in the room after I lay on the acupuncture table and started to relax.  I knew he was not physically present, but needless to say I could still see him in my mind as well as feel his presence in the room.  I knew immediately he was an old master of acupuncture and came to help facilitate my healing.

I shared what I was seeing and feeling with Pat, my acupuncturist.  She quietly smiled as if she had invited his presence here.

I closed my eyes and Pat placed the final needle in me and immediately I felt myself lift out of my physical body and was overcome with a sense of joy that brought a tingling sensation throughout my entire body. It was if I had become instantly electrified and charged.

While I felt I was being “out of my body,” I felt the old Chinese Master take care of manipulating different energies and places within my body. I could see different colors, beginning with yellow, then red, greens, white, and blues. I could feel heat in different sections of my body, particularly my throat, my chest, and solar plexus. I could feel the energy actually move and circulate.

I had the impression that something was being removed that had been missed and the image from the Matrix movie came to my mind when Neo, the main protagonist, was in a car and had a metal bug extrapolated from his abdomen.  Neo had not known it was even present but when it was removed, he could see he had been infected.  I, too, had the impression something foreign was being removed from me as well during this acupuncture treatment.

After the acupuncture concluded, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of oneness, peace, and joy. I did not want to leave because the feeling of being whole was so powerful and so complete. I sat in the room for a long time and continued to feel that connection.

Since this first introduction with this old Chinese Master, I went on to learn some of the arts of Chinese Medicine, such as Qigong.  Even now, in some of my treatment sessions, I can sense this same Old Chinese Master’s presence in the room.  Some times he is there for support and occasionally he steps in to assist with a treatment.   It is now as if we have become good friends with respect for each others gifts.  We both enjoy the art of healing.

Healing the Earth via Energy Work

8/8/2012

Picture
Some of us believe the earth is a living thing and if this is true, then it can also mean the earth has acupoints which could be used to assist in its healing.  Anyway, that is what I pondered after first starting on my journey to learn Chinese Medicine.  As a result, I decided to try it and go to a special place in Northern California where I knew the earth energy was strong.   It was there I did a meditation with the focus of  to help with the earths healing, but also to see if my theory of earth acupoints was correct.

During the grounding process of the meditation, I typically visualize a connection from myself to the earth, such as a root sprouting from me and growing into the depths of the earth.  But during this meditation, the visual in my mind was not one of my choosing.  It was another visual that was being painted in my mind and what I saw in my mind was a huge source of clear liquid energy moving through me.  What amazed me was not only how I was not in charge of the grounding process and this visual, but also the SOUND.  It was as if a waterfall was flowing from a high mountain and all I could hear was that loud sound of pouring water.  It was very LOUD.

For me, because I hear a swooshing sound when I am at an acupoint in the human body, to hear this HUGE rushing sound during my earth healing meditation was a validation I was at an acupoint for the earth.  I stood in a standing meditation pose for a long, long time, ending the meditation when I no longer heard the sound.

This verified the earth has some types of points (or acupoints) where we can help with her healing.  Just as energy work can help heal the human the body and assist it getting into a state of wellness, energy work can also be used to help heal the earth.

Hearing the Acupoint

8/8/2012

Acupuncture points are mapped out in the body with very specific locations so when one is learning to locate these points, we would ask the instructor to verify if we were on the point or not.  She then advised us to "feel" the point and verify it for ourself.  At first I wondered if it was supposed to be like a pulse beat, but I felt nothing physically at all.  But in that moment of trying to feel the point,  I started to hear a swooshing sound in my mind.  I quickly removed my hand and the swooshing sound stopped.  I put my finger back on the acupoint and once again heard a swooshing sound. I  discovered that for me to feel the acupoint, it was a matter of tuning in and listening for the sound of swooshing.

Exercise to Nourish Your Organs

This is one of my favorite Qigong exercises.  I call it "Nourish Your Organs" because that is what it does.  It helps you stay healthy.  The exercise helps you push out energy stagnation that can lead to disease and then has you bring in revitalizing Qi to help nourish those vital organs.  Each exercise is a smooth, flowing movement of pushing out the stagnant Qi and bringing in fresh vital Qi.

Each sequence includes a tongue position, which usually is an acupoint related to each of the different organs.  The different components each include an emotion which often is what leads to energy getting stuck in different organ as part of the exercise incudes visualizing releasing those negative emotions and replacing them with positive and nourishing emotions.

There are different color visualizations in this exercise flow, too.  The color is used for healing and tonifying.  Each different color has an energy vibration or frequency that aligns to a specific organ and that is why it is used in the visualization.

There is also a visualization process as part of the exercise where you mentally think and try to feel the energy moving and doing what you are directing the energy to do.  This is one reason why we don’t count out repetitions in the exercise; we want your thoughts to be engaged in visualization as well as the flowing movements.

This exercise is designed to help nourish your vital organs and help you feel vibrant.  You first do the warm-ups (see Exercise Tab for the warm-up video) and then you nourish you organs.  With this daily exercise, you most likely will start to feel a difference in  how you feel after a few weeks.
