I became interested in Chinese Medicine after I went to an acupuncturist to get relief from migraines. Western Medicine was failing me and I was tired of having so many episodes of pain.
After several acupuncture treatments the migraines were gone, but what happened DURING my acupuncture treatments is what lead me to Chinese Medicine. It was during these acupuncture treatments when I experienced some extra-ordinary events.
A Theater Filled with Observers
During my first acupuncture treatment, I had the feeling I was in an operating room theater and the room was filled with people observing me laying on the treatment table. It was as if this was EVENT that drew in lots of "nonphysical people" to watch what was happening to me.

Vivid Colors & Movement
During the next acupuncture treatment, when I closed my eyes, I could “see” vivid colors in my mind. They were flashing and swirling around while I was also feeling rigorous movement going on inside my body. I opened my eyes, peeked at my body, and it was just laying there with nothing bothering it. But when I closed my eyes, I could feel and sense so much activity occurring inside me. This absolutely amazed me;there was such a disconnect between what I was seeing and what I was feeling.
Black Necrotic Blob
Later in the treatment I could see the vivid colors in my mind suddenly change into a black and necrotic blob. This black “thing” had pushed all the vivid colors in my mind away and had taken over. A big black burnt thing was now all I saw underneath my closed eyes.
But then this black necrotic blob started breaking up and starting to float apart. It reminded me of a glacier that was now breaking up and floating away in a vast ocean going in all different directions. At first I was a bit frightened but then I thought “this is what I came to discover and to get rid of”. Eventually all that blackness was totally gone and had been washed away. At the end of this treatment, I was totally exhausted.
Color of White & Vacuuming Up Debris
In my next treatment, the experience was very different. Pat, the Acupuncturist, added some type of electrical equipment to the treatment regime. In this treatment, there were no colors displaying in my mind. All I saw was white, but I could feel myself “leave” as if I was now observing what was happening my body from a far. I observed how every nook and cranny of my inner self and body was now being vacuumed in this treatment. It was as if the house cleaners had come and a large vacuum tube was running around inside my body sucking out all the crap. At the end of this treatment I was absolutely exhausted.
Green
At the next acupuncture treatment I saw green. It reminded me of spring’s new growth, similar to new blades of green grass. My impression was that things were budding with new growth. I was renewed with hope.
Protectors + Eagle in Flight
During the next treatment, I did not see any colors at all, but I felt a presence of people around me. They felt like protectors, observers, and comforters as if they were looking over me and holding my hands. Next I started to visualize what was moving and changing within my body and I could “see” my organs, blood vessels, bones. It just seemed ordinary and normal. No special colors, no swirls, no drama. I had a regular and functioning body. I also now realized I could "scan" my body to find out how it was doing!
Pat returned to the room and made a modification to the electrical stimuli. I saw a change emerge within my mind. I could now see an eagle on my minds canvas. As the bird approached, I could see it now changed to a bright white. I then saw the magnificent bird spread its wings and gently leap into the air, soaring away with no boundaries. These images seemed to be telling me I was now back to normal with the ability to move beyond current limitations.
Conclusion
Now that I am more seasoned in Chinese Medicine, I can better understand what was happening. I now view it as a story being played out in my mind and was a way my "inner self" communicated to my "outer self". Stories and images are ways I would accept the message. I am a rather visual person and also remember my dreams, so seeing stories play out in my mind is normal. The treatments and changes going on within my body were being shared as if they were short dream segments, or acts in a play. The first treatment of feeling I was center stage in the theater was a clue to how information was going to be communicated. I was getting ready for a show.
The color of a black necrotic blob was a good way to communicate a message of "decay" and the next treatment using the color of new vibrant green was a way to let me know there was new growth. The message was about how the acupuncture treatments were working.
Then to see an eagle in flight, symbolizing freedom, could be an interpretation of being "free from migraines" with the final segment using the color white, a symbol of all the colors in the rainbow being in balance. I was now in balance.
Needless to say, this experience opened a new door and led me to learn more about Chinese Medicine, and finally, QIGONG. I love how Chinese Medicine can help a person tune into their own body and even help translate messages about what is going on within. The whole process of using energy medicine for healing has been very empowering. It provided a process to improve the partnership and relationship between the my body, mind, and spirit. I now recognize I have a lot more control in the healing process than I did before I started down this alternative medicine path.
